Lemmings Technical Info

Lemmings on the PC

Lemmings for the PC is a fairly tame product. It was designed to be run on systems with a 286 or better, VGA, and 1M of RAM. There may still be situations where you will not have enough memory free to run the game. If you know how to free up this memory, then please do so, otherwise instructions for making a DOS Boot Disk can be found here.

If you are having problems getting the right mouse button to function properly during the game, or getting erratic mouse function during the game, you are probably using Microsoft Mouse version 9.0 or earlier.

For information on getting a newer driver, contact your system vendor, or try Microsoft's homepage.

Lemmings on the Amiga

On Amigas with 68040's (and probably 68060's...) and AGA you most probably WILL NOT be able to get the game to function. Try using Degrader or Runlame first. Both of these programs are availible via Aminet.

It is still more than likely that you will not get the game to work. Unfortunately, due to the radical differences between the machines which were released after Lemmings was designed, we are unable to solve the problem.

If the game still refuses to function after trying the above, we reccomend returning the game to the dealer whom you purchased it from for a refund.

Lemmings on the Mac

If you have installed Lemmings and are receiving a File System Error -43 or similar, it is due to an improper installation.

To fix this problem, trash the old Lemmings folder, and create a new one. Then open each disk and drag its contents into the new folder. When this is done, you should have 5 files in the folder. Double-click on the Lemmings icon to start the game.

If you are using a PowerMac, System 7.5, or a Quadra AV, and are not getting any sounds from the game, then please return your program disk to us for a replacement. This problem stems from the changes which were made to Sound Manager in the last year. We have since licensed a library which is compatible with the new version. Unfortunately, this library is not freely distributable, so we cannot provide it via FTP.

Send the disk, along with a letter explaining your problem to our US office if you live in the Western Hemisphere, or the Liverpool office from anywhere else in the world.
